Council Fills Vacancy on Oversight Committee

San Juan resident Angela L. Grillo is the newest member of the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Ad-Hoc Committee, after the City Council appointed her on Tuesday, July 17. Grillo was nominated to fill the vacancy, from a three-applicant pool, by a subcommittee of Mayor Larry Kramer and Councilman Sam Allevato.

Although the committee does not have any decision-making authority, they review and provide recommendations to the council for the expenditure of bond proceeds and whether such spending complies with the scope of Measure Y, part of a 2008 ordinance that approved up to $30 million for the preservation and enhancement of San Juan open space. The committee has a fixed end date of 180 days after all Measure Y bonds are spent.

The four other members of the committee are Gerry Gamble, John R. Harper, Linda Pringle and Kathleen Strong.
