The last Dispatch was full of articles and letters accusing Councilman Reeve of high crimes and misdemeanors for his truthful article entitle “An Ode to Jonathan Volzke.”
I have lived in San Juan long enough to know Reeve’s depiction of Volzke was in fact far too discreet. However, this is a response in particular to Mr. Bodenhamer’s article “Out of Line,” where he alleges Councilman Reeve accused the Chamber of Commerce of “a serious crime.”
I just reread what Councilman Reeve wrote and his only reference to the Chamber was as follows: “…he (Volzke) also needed a friendly council to keep gifting taxpayer money to the Chamber because the Chamber would then use that money to buy much needed ad space in The Dispatch.”
How does this half of a sentence justify your incendiary response? Where exactly did Reeve “accuse the Chamber of a serious crime like money laundering or racketeering?”
I understand that despite the fact you don’t live in San Juan, you nevertheless have an interest in ensuring certain candidates get elected to our City Council. However, your article was so out of line, I think you owe Reeve and San Juan residences an apology.
