The monthly dinner meeting of the South Orange Democratic Club will be held on January 9, at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center, 25925 Camino del Avion, San Juan Capistrano.
Featured speakers will be Nancy McIntyre, retired teacher and one of the founders of iHOPE, and Cathleen Murphy, iHOPE’s Executive
Director. Together they will describe how in response to the growing number of homeless and working poor in South Orange County, the iHOPE dream became a reality. iHOPE offers a wide range of referrals and direct assistance at their San Clemente Resource Center, a “Rainy Nights” program that provides limited motel shelter for the homeless during inclement weather, and a mobile shower service for the street homeless, providing clean undergarments, bus passes, haircuts and counseling services.
Buffet dinner begins at 6 p.m. The cost for members is $17, and the cost for non-members is $20. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Those hoping to attend should RSVP by Monday, January 7, to email hidden; JavaScript is required.
