San Juan Hills’ senior defender Anjelyka Brown signed to play soccer for the University of South Carolina. Brown, a three-year varsity player, has helped sure up the Stallions backline defense, which did not allow more than two goals to be scored against them all season. The Stallions (8-3-8, 2-2-4 league) finished second in the Sea View League standings and will play in the CIF-SS playoffs.
Center midfielder Andres Mendoza, of the JSerra boys soccer team, signed to played for the University of California Irvine soccer team. Mendoza is a co-captain for the Lions (14-3-3, 6-2-1), who finished second in the Trinity League standings and will play in the CIF-SS playoffs.
“It has always been my goal to play soccer in college, and now that all my hard work has paid off to meet my goal, I’d like to aspire to play professionally,” Mendoza said in an email. “Continuing my success in soccer and my education is a big focus, and I believe I can continue this at UCI.”
St. Margaret’s senior Alexis Leon officially signed with the University of California San Diego to play soccer. Leon, a midfielder for the Tartans (12-4-4, 8-0), has played a role on a St. Margaret’s squad that is currently undefeated in league play. Leon has one goal and three assists on the season.
