Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies for New Barbershop, Restaurant

By The Capistrano Dispatch

The Senor Barber

The San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce celebrated two new businesses last week with a pair of ribbon cutting ceremonies.

On Thursday, February 21, a ceremony was held to commemorate the opening of The Señor Barber, located at 31901 Camino Capistrano. The Señor Barber is a traditional male barbershop, offering haircuts and straight razor shaves. For owners Kenya and Alfred Oliman, the new barbershop is their second location, in addition to one in San Clemente.

Regular haircuts cost $15, $11 for seniors and $12 for young men, 14 and younger. Straight shaves cost $15.

The Señor Barber is open seven days a week, including most holidays. During weekdays, the barbershop is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins and appointments are accepted.

The Olives Branch

On Friday, February 22, the Chamber was on hand to help cut the ribbon at The Olives Branch, one of four new restaurants located in Marbella Plaza. In an interview with The Dispatch in November, co-owner Omar Chmait, who runs the business with his father, Bill, described his restaurant as “Mediterranean cuisine with a Lebanese flair.”

“It’s organic, it’s healthy and it’s flavorful,” Chmait said.

The Olives Branch received a warm welcoming during a soft opening late last year, Chmait added. The restaurant features light to heavy lunch and dinner options, such as hummus, dolmas, tabbouleh and kefir cheese—a Lebanese staple.

The restaurant also features an attached, outdoor lounge for hookah enthusiasts.

The Olives Branch is open Monday through Friday, between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. On weekends, the restaurant is open between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m.

The Olives Branch is located at 31105 Rancho Viejo Road. For more information, call 949.373.5633 or visit www.theolivesbranch.com.
