Ricardo Aldana, 37, taught Spanish and coached volleyball and soccer at the private school. The lewd act allegedly occurred with a Spanish-class student at the teacher's Dana Point home in September, said Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.
The girl told her mother about the incident, and the woman reported it to authorities on Wednesday. Investigators arrested Aldana the same day, Amormino said.
He was booked into Orange County Jail, but released after posting $100,000 bail.
JSerra officials said they were “outraged and sickened” by the allegations and that Aldana was fired Thursday morning.
Amormino said authorities fear there may be other victims. Aldana taught at the school seven years and coached girls volleyball, as well as boys soccer. He was also a coach at the T-Street Volleyball Club in Irvine.
According to the JSerra website, Aldana holds a BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Spanish.
JSerra spokesman Bill Rams said the school is cooperating with authorities.
“We strongly encourage anybody in the JSerra community with information that might aid the investigation to contact the Sheriff’s Department immediately,” Rams said in a statement.
