San Clemente’s Car Show is on Sunday, June 8.

Downtown San Clemente will once again become a showroom for more than 300 cars on Sunday, June 8 during the 13th annual San Clemente Car Show. Avenida Del Mar will be closed off to car traffic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an expected 20,000 people making their way through the streets. “[There will be] a sea of people from the 200 to 300 block,” said Dave Freedman, a 10-year participant who plans to show his ’59 Corvette.

The car show is put on each year by the Downtown Business Association and showcases cars pre-1970 with only the high-end invited to take part. There will be woodies, street rods and muscle cars, among others. “This gives people the opportunity to experience classic cars that have been restored,” said Dave Anderson, event organizer and car enthusiast. “Cars their dads drove.”

Admission is free to this family event and it’s open to the public. There will be venders crowding the sidewalks, selling everything from food and drinks, to car parts and clothes.

For live entertainment Millertime Boogie, a local classic rock band, will put in an appearance. They have been performing shows in Orange County for more than 14 years and play music ranging from blues to classic rock. “They play a little of everything and are pretty good,” Anderson said.

Large events are usually the time when people have a hard time finding parking or the price of parking goes up. This will not be the case as parking is plentiful and free. There’s a free shuttle service from San Clemente High School.
