On Monday, Nov. 18, a woman with bundles of methamphetamine stashed in her car was intercepted by U.S. Border Patrol, according to a statement released by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.
A 55-year-old woman driving a green 2002 Mercedes-Benz arrived at the Interstate 5 checkpoint near San Clemente at approximately 4 p.m. Agents referred the driver for a secondary inspection. In the secondary inspection, a K-9 sniff of the vehicle resulted in a positive alert. Agents searched the vehicle and found eight bundles of methamphetamine inside both the left and right rear quarter panels of the car.
The meth weighed approximately 20.39 pounds and has an estimated street value of $203,900. The woman was arrested by agents and was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
