The San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Meet the Candidates” reception on Thursday, September 27, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Sundried Tomato Café in downtown San Juan Capistrano.

All City Council candidates are expected to participate in the meet-and-greet format event. The candidates will give brief introductions about themselves and speak about their candidacies. Guests are invited to ask the candidates questions in an informal setting.

Melissa Abbott-Kaffen, who announced last week that she will be stepping aside in her campaign to support candidates Roy Byrnes and Kim McCarthy, said she plans to attend the reception. Abbott-Kaffen’s name will still appear on the November 6 ballot because the deadline to officially withdraw has passed, according to City Clerk Maria Morris.

The event is free, but RSVPs are requested and can be made by contacting the chamber at info@sanjuanchamber.com or by calling 949.493.4700.

The reception will be held in the downstairs patio area. Sundried Tomato Café is located at 31781 Camino Capistrano.
