Interstate 5 at Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano will undergo full nighttime closures Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21, the California Department of Transportation has announced.
Both northbound and southbound I-5 lanes will be affected. Closures on both nights begin at 11:59 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. the next morning.
Motorists travelling on I-5 will be directed off at Ortega Highway and will reenter the freeway on the sequential Ortega Highway on-ramp.
During both closures, northbound and southbound on- and off-ramps will not be accessible to regular city traffic, and Ortega Highway, between Del Obispo Street and Rancho Viejo Road, will also be closed.
The closures are part of Caltrans’ $86.2 million I-5/Ortega Highway interchange project.
