On Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20, demolition took place on the north half of the Ortega Highway bridge. Reconstruction efforts will continue into the New Year. Holiday travel will continue to run smoothly for commuters over the next week as a break from construction and freeway closures continues through New Year’s Eve. There are no Ortega Highway closures scheduled Dec. 31 through Jan. 3.   • Southbound I-5 on-ramp
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 off-ramp
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Northbound I-5 on-ramp
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Northbound I-5 off-ramp
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-5 Freeway & Ortega Highway Lane Reductions

  • Northbound I-5 between Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Southbound I-5 between Junipero Serra Road and Camino Capistrano
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Westbound Ortega Highway from Rancho Viejo Road to Del Obispo Street
    • Sunday to Tuesday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
