Ruth A. Clark, San Juan Capistrano

Dear Mayor Allevato and City Council members,

I agree that we need a luxury hotel in the downtown area; nonetheless, I still do not like the idea of permanent housing next to our Historic Town Center Park. Perhaps rather than selling the proposed villas as residences, they should be incorporated as a part of the hotel. Initially, they could be used as short-term vacation rentals or leased for one to three years at a time, until they could be utilized as luxury suites by the hotel. With all the current development and our value as a destination city, the local and tourist population will continue to grow. I think that we need planning that works to everyone’s advantage and wisely manages future growth.
