Can you believe that it’s October already? Me neither. From the way things are in the stores these days, you’d think it was almost Christmas. What’s with that? Can’t businesses let us enjoy one holiday at the time? Each one of them has its own feel, color, smell and taste.
This month, I just want to think about candy. Next month, Turkey, cranberries and pumpkin pie. In December, pine trees, candy canes, eggnog and my family’s traditional holiday meal. Instead, pumpkin has already creeped up everywhere. Pumpkin cereal, pumpkin pancake, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin spice, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin creamer, pumpkin spread, pumpkin bread, just to name a few. And let’s not forget the originator of it all, pumpkin pie.
Not that I mind, mind you; I love pumpkin. I just wish that they waited until November to make all of those items irresistible to people like me who could survive on sweets alone. Just look at my shape. I just have to look at it and my curves get accentuated. If only it would give me height instead of width. Still, I do what I must to support the economy, one pumpkin treat at a time.
As the seasons begin, I wish you sweet moments!
