SUPPORT THIS INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM
The article you’re about to read is from our reporters doing their important work — investigating, researching, and writing their stories. We want to provide informative and inspirational stories that connect you to the people, issues and opportunities within our community. Journalism requires lots of resources. Today, our business model has been interrupted by the pandemic; the vast majority of our advertisers’ businesses have been impacted. That’s why The Capistrano Dispatch is now turning to you for financial support. Learn more about our new Insider’s program here. Thank you.
If you’re thinking about partaking in a Big Mac or a Happy Meal this week, you may want to plan on dining out this Tuesday, Feb. 10, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. That’s when the local McDonald’s, located at 31822 Del Obispo Street, will be hosting a McStudent’s Night fundraiser for Breakthrough San Juan Capistrano. Breakthrough San Juan is a tuition-free academic program run out of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School that aims to give high-achieving students from under-served backgrounds a better chance at a college degree.
“We encourage everyone to come out and support 10 years of providing educational opportunities to highly-motivated, under-served middle and high school students,” said Lily Panish, community outreach coordinator for Breakthrough SJC.
The McDonald’s of San Juan Capistrano will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from Tuesday’s event to Breakthrough SJC, benefiting the program’s students.
