For the first time since 2008, the Mission Basilica School eighth-grade girls basketball team hoisted the Parochial Athletic League Orange County Championship trophy this season. The Swallows were able to go a perfect 13-0 on the year in league play and defeated School of Our Lady of Santa Ana 34-21 in the championship match.

The county championship was the first won by head coach Pat Forster in his 29 years of coaching at Mission Basilica.

In the championship game, the San Juan team was led by Sofia Vaquerano, who scored a team-high 14 points. Angelica Gonzalez had a well-rounded game, scoring 10 points and recording 15 steals and 14 blocked shots.
In three playoff games, the Swallows defeated their opponents by a combined 96-59 margin.

Team members include: Sofia Vaquerano, Angelica Gonzalez, Cassandra Vaquerano, Olivia Williams, Katie Flores, Kathryn Iacometti, Mackenzie Isaksen, Kellan Jenner, Jillian Kurlfink, Allison Leukanech, Racquelle Vellandi and Hailey Zehren.
