The city is hosting a Fourth of July Celebration at the Sports Park that features kids activities, live music and, of course, fireworks

For more than 10 years, the city of San Juan Capistrano has brought the community together for a night of live music, games and entertainment on Fourth of July. This year is no different as the skies above the San Juan Capistrano Sports Park will light up with fireworks and music will fill the air.

Festivities start at 4 p.m. with lots to keep families busy: Zoomars Petting Zoo is bringing live animals to visit and there will be family games. Rides and a bounce house for kids will be on-site; tickets must be purchased or $20 wristbands are available for unlimited access. Food will be available and, for adults, the Fiesta Association will sell beer and wine.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., local rock cover band The Trip will be on the main stage playing ’60s songs and blues. On a second stage, James Leone and Leslie Lynn Garden, both champion gun spinners, will perform at 4 p.m., followed by Heebie & Jeebie at 5 p.m., and finally a 7:30 p.m., a group from the Black Belt Tae Kwon DO Academy takes the stage.

Mayor Joe Soto will give a speech and the color guard will be perform by the VFW Post 2201. And once the sun has set, the main feature of the night—the fireworks—will begin around 9 p.m.

Keep in mind: No personal fireworks, alcohol, glass, pets or barbecues are allowed. Also, parking will be limited; people are encouraged to arrive early, carpool, bike or walk.
