After refocusing in May on a new skatepark location, the San Juan Capistrano Sports Park, organizers and supporters of the movement to build a skatepark in San Juan are planning to return to a Parks, Recreation, Senior and Youth Services Commission meeting at 6 p.m. on July 20 to request the skatepark be increased by 8,000 square feet—from the 12,000 square feet design that was approved by the commission on June 15 to 20,000 square feet. A presentation will be made before the commission that night.

In the meantime, the group—known as Capistrano Grind Skate Park—is looking for youth and community members to help design the future skatepark. Capistrano Grind will be hosting a design workshop on Thursday, July 16 at 6 p.m. at Mission Grill, located at 31721 Camino Capistrano.
