The Capistrano Dispatch
This year’s California State Parks Foundation’s Earth Day Restoration and Cleanup will be focused across 27 of the state’s parks on Saturday, April 18.
Presenting sponsor Pacific Gas & Electric will provide its workforce at 11 state parks and is providing a $200,000 grant to CSPF for the supplies and materials to complete 12 Earth Day projects throughout Northern and Central California. More than 2,000 volunteers are needed to help with environmental improvement projects statewide.
In Orange County, more than 155 volunteers will be needed on April 18 to help revitalize and cleanup Crystal Cove State Park, located at 8471 N. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach. Volunteers will participate by painting curbs, sweeping ramps, cleaning the beach, beautifying the maintenance yard, power washing monument signs, removing old concrete on the coastal terrace and planting cactus at Pelican Point. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m., and the work will be done from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A docent-led tidepool walk will also be offered.
Registration for the Earth Day Restoration and Cleanup closes April 13. To volunteer, visit calparks.org/earthday or call 888.987.2757. Space is limited, so advance registration is required. Parking fees are waived for Earth Day volunteers.
