San Juan Capistrano’s annual free country dance event returns this weekend to highlight the two-step dance style and to celebrate the area’s rich equestrian heritage.

Now in its 14th year, Two Stepping Under the Stars will take place once again on the grass of the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan on Saturday, July 30. Presented by Blenheim EquiSports, the celebration is free for everyone to attend.

“Two Stepping is consistently one of the best events of the year, and this year’s party promises to be the best ever,” said event organizer Dr. Julie Ryan Johnson of the San Juan Capistrano Equestrian Coalition.

The fun begins at 5 p.m. with free dance lessons from the beloved country band the Kelly Boyz. Dinner and dancing starts at 6 p.m.

“Anyone can learn to cut loose and two step with the best of them, and we’re excited to teach whoever is interested, from all ages and walks of life,” said Kelly Boyz frontman Micah Kelly.

The event also includes food and beverages for purchase from local restaurants, a kids area with games and face painting, and a silent auction and raffle. All of the proceeds go directly back into the equestrian community through charitable projects.
